| Place Name | Paisley |
| Description | Paisley is the largest town in the historic county of Renfrewshire in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. By the 19th century, Paisley had established itself as a centre of the weaving and so gave its name to patterns still in use. Paisley has monastic origins. A chapel is said to have been established by the 6th/7th century Irish monk, Saint Mirin. The town was established under James II and it was elevated to a burgh in 1488 by James IV. |
