DescriptionAn Uí Néill castle constructed in 1305 on one of the highest points in the area. It was burnt by Shane O'Neill in 1559 to prevent its use by English forces. Structures were damaged and rebuilt here throughout the 1600s. In 1950, the British Army took over the site for martial purposes until 2007. A partial excavation was carried out for the Time Team television program here in 2007.
