DescriptionHolkham is a village and civil parish in the north-west of the county of Norfolk, England. By about 600 the distribution of cruciform brooches, a diagnostic of Anglo-Jutish society, show that the culture had displaced the Celtic on the east coast of Britain, including coastal East Anglia (which includes Norfolk). The first reference to the Saxon village of Holkham comes from about the year 700 as the place where the daughter of the Christian Angle King Anna of East Anglia. Holkham is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.
