| Description | Marcham is a village and civil parish about 2 miles west of Abingdon, Oxfordshire. It was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire. The remains of an Iron Age fort and a Roman village in the parish have been excavated. The toponym Marcham is derived from the Old English Merceham, in which ham is a homestead and merece is a place where wild celery grows. |
